1999 - Formation

After attending music college for two years, Front man Stuart Bodie, began to piece together the band that would eventually become, Out Of The Blue.  Stu met keyboard player, Wes Schmidt, while Wes was working in a government office as a work experience student.  Their mutual love of music soon drew them together.  Over the next few years, the band saw many musicians come and go, but eventually settled to the core players that are now, Out Of The Blue.

Lead Vocals Stuart Bodie (Stu) is the founder, front man and energy of OOTB. Stuart has been involved with several bands, an a-cappella group that toured Japan and several musical theatre productions including the lead role in The Music Man. Stuart is a graduate of the Grant MacEwan Music Program where he majored in Recording Arts.

Vocalist – Louise Dawson is has studied Jazz vocals at both Grant Macewan and McGill University. She is currently in  music education at the University of Alberta. Louise has been  a feature singer at Jazz festivals all across Canada and has also worked as a vocalist for the Red's Rebels.

Vocalist – Kerri Bodie is a talented vocalist who has been involved in music all her life. She had eight years of Royal Conservatory piano instruction and private vocal lessons. Kerri sang and played keyboards in the band, Brand-X, which performed in numerous cities in Japan.

Keyboards – "Wild Wild Wes" Schmidt is a gifted musician who greatly adds to the chemistry of the band with his perfect pitch and accommodating personality. If Stuart is the "front" of the band, Wes is definitely the "center". Wes graduated with a Recording Arts major from the Grant MacEwan Music Program.

Drums – Burke Maclean

Guitar - Jeremy Doody is one of Alberta's finest guitar players. Jeremy is comfortable in most any style of guitar, including: Classical, Jazz, Country and Blues, but his specialty is Rock n' Roll. Since Jeremy joined OOTB, he has improved the band immeasurably with his amazing solos and solid play. Jeremy is currently a guitar instructor at Red Deer College.

Bass - Moni Mathew is a multi-talented musician who is much sought after, due to his abilities and versatility. Moni is skilled on over ten different instruments but we're just happy that he's awesome on the bass. Stu met Moni while taking music at Grant MacEwan and knew he had to be in a band with him immediately. Moni plays a 5 string bass which adds some real bottom end to our sound.
